Three Years Since Russia’s Invasion of Ukraine | A Conversation with John Sweeney

Three years ago today, Russia launched its full-scale invasion of Ukraine, changing the world forever. Journalist John Sweeney was in Kyiv when it happened, documenting the chaos, fear, and resilience of the Ukrainian people in real-time through his war diaries and reporting. I wasn’t here then, but today, I sat down with John to hear his firsthand experiences from those early days of the war.

What was it like to be in Kyiv as the first missiles struck? How did people react? What was the mood on the ground, and how does he feel now, three years later, looking back on everything that has happened? In this conversation, John shares his memories, thoughts, and reflections, giving valuable context to those pivotal first days and what they meant for Ukraine and the world.
