I met Caolan about a year ago, and realized straight away we had something common: the way we feel about Ukraine, and the incredible beauty we’ve both experienced here.

Recently we had a very simple idea. We’re both here in Kyiv, so why don’t we just sit down properly and talk about it?

So much of the conversation about Ukraine now happens from a distance. We’re both actually here, we’ve both spent a huge amount of time traveling around the country, meeting people and reporting what is happening, and I thought it would be interesting to stop for once and reflect on how we ended up here in the first place.

We talk about our lives, why we came to Ukraine, some of the things we’ve experienced along the way, why this country has come to mean so much to both of us, and why being here still matters so much to the journalism we do.

It’s a much more personal film than we normally make, and probably one of the most open conversations I’ve had on this channel.
